10-20 keys.
but it leaves the questions: 1. your intel told you there 10-20 bombers in system right? 2. when you know the enemy has 10-20 bombers in system ... why do you jump your whole fleet in on one gate? many systems got more than one entrance.

Originally by: Last Wolf only problem I have with bombs is titan/pos bridging and jumping to gates. All of those bring your entire fleet within bombing range. You can lose the majority of your fleet before they even load the grid.
1. grid load lag should be fixed. no need to discuss this 2. it would be nice if CCP would up the activation range for titans/bridges and that you keep your formation while jumping. 10-20k activation range and the "bomb them on cyno in" would become less an issue. sadly the titan shares the code with gates. and we dont want to buff autopilot.
so we will see.
last but not least ... as hinted earlier ... use multiple jump in points. they cant setup on all your gates/cynos at the same time. you might loose some, but not all of them.

Edited by: darius mclever on 20/04/2010 20:39:26 wouldnt it too easy just to blob everyone to death with BS fleets? especially RR BS fleets? hug together, rep each other and slaughter the rest. until the bombers hit you. i think on gate jumping you are pretty well spread out already. the real issue is the slow session change. (had that myself on the weekend. was sitting there for like 2 minutes being shot by a single support while being stuck.)
If CCP really fixes that, we are fine. cyno bridging is a bit of a bigger issue. also warping everyone to the same spot.
Though for the fleet warp issue, I wait for formations. if you could setup your formation before warping in ... damn it would look nice seeing 100 BS + support warp in with a nicely spread out formation.
that said ... current situation with dominion lag sucks ... but not a reason to nerf bombers.
i guess i got distracted by formations. effort yes, tedious ... no.

Originally by: Torothanax Sounds like a lot of theory crafting in here on both sides to me.
I can honestly say I've never had bombs used effectively against any fleet I've ever been in though.
maybe get out of lowsec? go north if you want to get bombed a few times and then come back.

Originally by: Torothanax I said I've never had them used effectively against any fleet I've ever been part of. We've lost a few ships to coordinated attacks, but never "dozens" or "all". Maybe we just "do it right".
If you want to try it make a roam with mini militia through the north. NC/SC will happily show you what it means to run into a bomber camp.
oh and please post your losses. eve-kill.net has some more than the militia board.

Originally by: Torothanax Edited by: Torothanax on 21/04/2010 02:08:28 Dude, I haven't always been militia. Lived in the drones regions for a long while. Bomb mechanics haven't changed since they were introduced.
The militia does do null sec roams, it's just usually through CVA fail space. Why go looking for trouble when we've an easy fight at hand?
BTW, why target me? It's not like I agree with the OP. I just pointed out that I don't think bombs are all that effective. Did I step on your schlong or somthing? The "theory crafting" comment hit close to home? You sure seem to be an expert on everything.
actually i just picked on the fact that you claimed "never used effectively" as a small hint: stealth bombers become so popular after you left Atlas. so roughly 8months later. no wonder nobody used them much against you during your time in atlas.
bombers are a totally different beast now. I have lost a few ships myself to them, but i also saw them devastating enemy fleets. and unlike you recently.
but maybe the new providence holder will give you some new first hand experience. :) see you in space ;)
